ALWAGHT- Lebanon’s Health Ministry reports that two people were killed and five others wounded in separate Israeli airstrikes on vehicles in southern Lebanon.
An Israeli drone strike hit a car between Markaba and al-Aadaissah in southern Lebanon’s Marjayoun district, killing one person, according to the Health Ministry. In a separate strike, another drone targeted a pickup truck in the Sebline area along the Mount Lebanon coast, killing one person and wounding five others.
Lebanese sources also reported continued ceasefire violations, including an Israeli ground incursion near al-Dhahirah north of the Blue Line, where explosives and ammunition were reportedly planted near a residential area. The Lebanese army later secured the site and carried out a controlled detonation to prevent casualties.
Tensions remain high as Israel continues near-daily strikes despite a ceasefire reached in November 2024, while maintaining control over several strategic areas in southern Lebanon. Lebanese officials warn that Israel may be preparing for a broader offensive, a claim reinforced by recent statements from Israeli leaders.
The situation unfolds amid indirect, US-monitored talks involving Lebanon and Israel, which Hezbollah has criticized as a concession. The group insists it will not disarm while Israeli attacks and occupation persist, underscoring the fragility of the ceasefire and the risk of further escalation.
