ALWAGHT- Iran deployed three indigenously developed remote-sensing satellites with the aid of a Russian launch system.
Iran launched three domestically built satellites from Russia’s Vostochny Cosmodrome aboard a Soyuz rocket as part of a multi-payload mission, marking the seventh time it has relied on Russian launch vehicles. The launch included the Zafar-2, Paya, and Kowsar satellites, with Iranian officials hailing it as a milestone for the country’s space sector.
Iranian Space Agency chief Hassan Salarieh said the mission reflects the rapid expansion of Iran’s space program and the growing role of universities and private companies. Officials emphasized that all satellites were designed and built using indigenous technology, with Russia providing only the launch service.
The satellites serve civilian purposes, including Earth observation, environmental monitoring, disaster management, and IoT-based data transmission. Iran, which began its space program in 2009, says it continues to advance satellite technology despite Western sanctions.
