ALWAGHT- Beijing condemns US actions against Venezuela’s president, rejecting unilateral use of force.
China has strongly condemned US actions in Venezuela, rejecting Washington’s self-appointed role as a “global policeman” and denouncing what it describes as a unilateral military operation in Caracas that led to the seizure of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores. Beijing emphasized that no country has the right to impose its will on a sovereign state.
China Daily and Foreign Minister Wang Yi criticized the use of force, including reported airstrikes, calling the operation a blatant violation of international law and Venezuelan sovereignty. Wang stressed that China opposes unilateral actions and the threat or use of force in international relations, urging respect for national sovereignty and security.
China joined Russia in demanding the immediate release of Maduro and warning against the dangerous precedent of unilateral military intervention. The developments coincide with US plans to charge Maduro in a New York federal court on drug trafficking and weapons-related allegations—claims that Caracas and its allies dispute, framing them as politically motivated.
