ALWAGHT- Responding to EU member states’ designation of elements of Iran’s armed forces, Iran has classified the naval and air forces of EU countries as terrorist organizations.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry announced reciprocal measures in response to what it called an unlawful decision by EU member states to label part of Iran’s armed forces as a terrorist entity.
In a statement, the ministry said the EU move violates the UN Charter and international law, arguing that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is an official component of Iran’s armed forces. Citing domestic legislation, Tehran said any country supporting such designations is subject to reciprocal action.
Based on that principle, Iran declared the naval and air forces of all EU member states to be terrorist organizations, saying the measure was taken within the framework of its existing laws.
