Iran Communicates Strait of Hormuz Conditions to US Through Pakistani Mediator

ALWAGHT- A source rejected media reports suggesting that Munir had delivered a warning, emphasizing that his visit was instead intended to lay the groundwork for negotiations.

Iran has clearly communicated its positions and conditions on the Strait of Hormuz to Pakistan, according to an informed source. The message was conveyed during meetings with Pakistani Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, who visited Tehran to relay Iran’s position to Washington.

The source rejected reports that Munir had brought a threatening message from the US, saying his visit was intended to help create conditions for negotiations. Iran’s key demand reportedly includes the US returning to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and fully honoring its provisions, including Article 5.

Munir and Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also held talks with several senior Iranian officials, including President Masoud Pezeshkian and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties, reviving the memorandum, and advancing efforts toward a broader settlement.

The diplomatic efforts came as Washington announced new sanctions targeting nearly 60 Iran-linked individuals, entities, and vessels. Iranian sources dismissed the latest US economic measures as largely psychological pressure and media propaganda, arguing that Washington has already exhausted many of its options against Tehran.
