Top Security Official: US Must Meet Seven Conditions to End Conflict with Iran

ALWAGHT- Iran’s top security official says Tehran has outlined the requirements for resuming negotiations with Washington, arguing that the United States must accept Iran’s conditions as part of any effort to bring the conflict between the two countries to an end.

Major General Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said Tehran has presented Washington with seven conditions for resuming negotiations. He said Iran’s position was conveyed through Qatari mediators and that Tehran is awaiting a response from US President Donald Trump.

Among the conditions Rezaei cited were an end to the conflict on all fronts, the release of Iranian frozen funds and the lifting of the naval blockade. He said Washington would benefit from accepting Tehran’s terms.

Rezaei said Iran is pursuing a new strategy aimed at bringing the conflict to an end as soon as possible, while warning that Tehran considers the possibility of another US attack significant.

He added that Iran’s military planning has changed following two US-Israeli conflicts, with greater focus on American naval assets across the Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman and Arabian Sea.

Rezaei also pointed to Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz, saying the waterway has remained closed since the second conflict. He said the closure followed US airstrikes and a naval blockade, after which Iranian forces carried out attacks against US targets across West Asia.
