ALWAGHT- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says Tehran is prepared for a possible renewal of hostilities with the United States while continuing to pursue a diplomatic path.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran is prepared to confront any renewed US military action while keeping diplomacy open. He said Iran would stand firm against further aggression but would continue pursuing opportunities for peace.
Araghchi said Iranian officials had explored diplomatic options during the UN General Assembly in New York, including efforts to negotiate the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. He described US President Donald Trump’s messages as contradictory, noting that Tehran had not officially received Washington’s reported rejection of an Iranian proposal.
He said Iran remains willing to reopen the Strait as part of an agreement to end the conflict, provided its frozen assets are released and it can resume oil sales. Araghchi said these conditions were included in a previous US-Iran understanding mediated by Pakistan, which later collapsed.
Araghchi said Iran was not concerned about US midterm elections but focused on its national interests. He maintained that a negotiated settlement based on dignity, justice, and Iran’s rights remained the only path forward, while warning that Tehran was prepared for further confrontation if hostilities resumed.
