ALWAGHT- Israeli troops and settlers targeted Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest in Burqa, northwest of Nablus, killing Ali al-Bazari and injuring 16 others.
Israeli settlers, backed by occupation forces, attacked Palestinian olive harvesters in Burqa, northwest of Nablus, on Wednesday. The assault killed 44-year-old Ali Hassan Yusr al-Bazari and wounded 16 others, including one critically.
Witnesses said settlers entered Palestinian farmland in the Ramin plain, where farmers were harvesting olives, and opened fire and beat residents. They said Israeli forces also fired and prevented ambulances and civilians from reaching the wounded.
Israeli forces reportedly assaulted medical crews responding to the attack, detained three paramedics and a volunteer, and confiscated their ambulance keys before forcing them to leave. The incident comes amid a wider surge in settler violence across the West Bank.
Palestinian authorities recorded 647 settler attacks in September, while thousands of olive trees have been damaged or destroyed this year. The violence has intensified during the September-November olive harvest, which provides a major source of income for tens of thousands of Palestinian families.
