ALWAGHT- Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has called for Washington to be held accountable for its actions against Iran, emphasizing that Tehran seeks to establish a sustainable deterrent against future threats.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the United States must be held accountable for its actions against Iran and accept the Iranian nation’s legitimate demands. He stressed that Tehran’s strategy was neither endless warfare nor continuous negotiations, but a combination of military preparedness and diplomacy aimed at securing lasting deterrence.
Ghalibaf proposed replacing the traditional cycle of war, negotiations and peace with a new approach centered on war, diplomacy and deterrence. Expressing doubts about Washington’s willingness to honor agreements, he said Iran’s battlefield gains had compelled the United States to accept the June memorandum of understanding in Islamabad, creating opportunities to strengthen Iran’s military capabilities and its regional allies.
The parliament speaker also highlighted improvements in Iran’s offensive capabilities, firepower and air defenses, alongside control over the Strait of Hormuz, national unity and economic resilience as key elements of deterrence. Citing Iran’s historical resistance to foreign aggression, he warned that any adversary considering an attack should recognize the consequences of confronting the Islamic Republic.
